BAV6215 ADS-B Unit for Ground Vehicles

The BAV6215 unit is a compact and fully autonomous 1090 MHz ADS-B Transmitting Subsystem intended for installation on ground vehicles operating in the airport area. This unit periodically reports the position and speed of the vehicle, thus providing valuable information for the airport ground traffic management.

The unit includes a GPS receiver with an antenna which provides position and velocity data for the unit. Position and velocity data are processed and transmitted according to DO-260B standard at 1090 MHz frequency band. This makes the vehicle visible to ground stations and to aircrafts equipped with 1090 MHz ADS-B receivers.
In addition to position, speed and heading data, each unit also reports the identification code of the unit thus allowing easy recognition of the vehicle.
BAV6215 can be easily attached to the car roof with magnets on its bottom side, or it can be permanently fixed.
BAV6215-(20) is intended for permanent installation and is supplied from the vehicle electrical system.
BAV6215-(21) includes a rechargeable battery and can operate with no connection to car installation - just put in on the roof, attach the switch-on plug and it starts operation.
The unit case is made of light yet durable plastic and is weather-protected. Daylight readable indicators on the side wall of the unit let quickly determine the operating status.
For maintenance and configuration, the unit is attached to a standard PC or laptop via USB interface.
